My first pick for this game is for the Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jameson Tallion. He isn’t having the best start to the season, but I expect him to turn things around against the defending world champions as the Astros offense hasn’t exactly been world beaters up until this point. He comes into this game, looking to pick up his first victory of the season and lower his Earned Run Average which currently sits at 6.41 coming into Monday’s game. He comes into the start averaging five strikeouts per appearance, and I expect him to exceed that number in this one on Monday as I have Tallion going over his total strikeouts against the Astros.
My second pick for this game is for the Houston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez. He is the true ace of this team after the departure of Justin Verlander, however his numbers at the moment don’t quite reflect that. Valdez has struggled along with the entirety of the Astros team this season, and he comes into this game with a losing record on the year of 3-4. He will be looking to get back to .500 with a victory here against the Chicago Cubs on Monday night. Despite his slow start to the season, he is racking up strikeouts as he averages seven of them per appearance. That is also why I have Framber Valdez going over his total strikeouts here on Monday night.

Cincinnati Reds @ Colorado Rockies – 8:40PM ET
My first pick for this game is for the Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene. Despite his lack of success with his record, he has been one of the few bright spots for the Cincinnati Reds this season. Unfortunately for Hunter Greene their lack of offense has certainly cost him some victories. Greene comes into this game. Looking to pick up his first victory of the season against a terrible Colorado Rockies team here on Monday night on the road at Coors Field. He comes into the start averaging nearly five strikeouts per appearance and I expect him to go over that number in this start on Monday night.
My second pick for this game is for the Cincinnati Reds to pick up the victory over the Colorado Rockies in the opening game of their series on Monday night. Neither one of these teams are having solid starts to the season at the moment, but I think it’s safe to say the Cincinnati Reds have the pitching advantage of this one with Hunter Greene on the mound. In Greene’s last start on the road, he went five innings and didn’t give up a single run and I look for a similar performance in this game. I look for Hunter Greene to shut down this Colorado Rockies offense and for the Cincinnati Reds to get a much-needed victory in game number one of this series on Monday night in Colorado.

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Oakland Athletics – 9:40PM ET
My first pick for this game is for the Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Merrill Kelly. He isn’t having the best start to the season, but I’ll look for him to bounce back in the opening game of the series against the Oakland Athletics here on Monday night in the Bay Area. He comes into this game, looking to pick up his fourth victory of the season against Oakland here on Monday as he has a record of three and three on the year. His Earned Run Average currently sits at 3.18 at the moment as well. Kelly comes into this game averaging around six strikeouts per appearance and I have him going over his total strikeouts in this one.
My second pick for this game is for the Arizona Diamondbacks to pick up the victory over the Oakland Athletics in the opening game of their series on Monday night. The Arizona Diamondbacks are off to a decent start to the season as they have shocked a lot of people with their early-season performances. Meanwhile, as expected, the Oakland Athletics have been one of the worst teams in all of baseball and it doesn’t seem to be getting much better for them anytime soon. With Kelly making the start for the Diamondbacks in this game they have the advantage in the pitching matchup and I expect them to get a comfortable victory out of it here on Monday evening.

Kansas City Royals @ San Diego Padres – 9:40PM ET
My first pick for this game is for the San Diego Padres starting pitcher Michael Wacha. He is off to a solid start this season, and I look for him to keep the momentum rolling in the opening game of the series against the Kansas City Royals. Wacha comes into this game with three victories and only a single loss on his record as he searches for his fourth victory of the season here on Monday night at Petco Park. He’s made seven appearances this season in the seven appearances he averages around for strikeouts. I look for that number to be elevated in this game as he’s facing a Royals team that strikes out a lot this season. They are currently ranked ninth with 365 strikeouts on the year.
My second pick for this game is for the San Diego Padres to pick up the victory over the Kansas City Royals in the opening game of their series on Monday night. The Padres are having a slow start to the season but there’s a lot of hope left for them because of their lineup and their pitching staff. Kansas City has just been down right awful this season as many people expected and with the weather getting warmer, I expect San Diego to take full advantage of the Royals and get some victories during the week in this series. I look for Wacha to help lead them to a victory in this one and for their lineup to have a solid day at the plate as well.

Minnesota Twins @ Los Angeles Dodgers – PM ET
My first pick for this game is for the Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Pablo Lopez. He comes into this game, looking to pick up his third victory of the season, and he has been pretty solid throughout the year for the Minnesota Twins up to this point. So it is safe to say despite Luis Arriaz’s success in Miami the trade for Pablo Lopez has paid off so far. He is currently tied for the sixth most strikeouts among pitchers in Major League Baseball in 2023, and he will be looking to add to that number in this start against the Los Angeles Dodgers. That is exactly what I expect as I have Pablo Lopez going over his total strikeouts here on Monday night.
My second pick for this game is for the Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard. He isn’t having the greatest start to the season, but he is still a quality starting pitcher and I expect him to have a solid start here in this one against the Minnesota Twins on Monday night. They have lost four out of their last six games on the road and are only averaging around three runs per game on the road prior to heading into a hostile environment like Dodger Stadium. That is perfect for Syndergaard, as he will be looking to lower his Earned Run Average and turn his season around and I expect him to do just that by going over his total strikeouts in this start on Monday night.
