Utah Jazz @ Dallas Mavericks – 1pm ET

My first pick for this game is for Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz. For years the big Frenchmen has been one of the best defenders and rebounders in the National Basketball Association. I think that will show again in this series opening contest against the Dallas Mavericks. As they don’t really have anyone on the inside who can keep up with Gobert on the boards and on the defensive end. I look for Gobert to surpass his total rebounds in this one.

My second pick for this game is for a Utah Jazz victory over the Dallas Mavericks in game one of this first round series. As the Dallas Mavericks will be without Luka Doncic in this game thanks to a calf that he injured in the final game of the regular season. If Luka was playing in this game I think his presence would make the difference in the outcome and he would lead the Dallas Mavericks to a victory. But since he is sitting this one out I am taking the Utah Jazz to get the win in game one by stealing a victory in Dallas.

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Memphis Grizzlies – 3:30pm ET

My first pick for this game is for the future face of the National Basketball Association and Memphis Grizzlies franchise cornerstone Ja Morant. When Morant in on the floor the Memphis Grizzlies are on another level. Even without him they are a great team, but with him they are nearly unstoppable when they get it going. That is why I am taking Morant to go over his points total in this first round game against a fired up Minnesota Timberwolves team that is coming off of an emotional playoff play-in over the Los Angeles Clippers last week.

My second pick for this game is for Anthony Edwards to put up a big game as well as I look for this game to be a back and forth between two of the youngest and brightest stars in the National Basketball Association. Edwards was fantastic in the Timberwolves playoff play-in victory and I look for him to repeat that type of performance in this one as he tries to put his team up 1-0 in this huge first round series.

Toronto Raptors @ Philadelphia 76ers – 6pm ET

My first pick for this game is for one of the top Most Valuable Player award winning candidates, Joel Embiid. While in my opinion at least he won’t win the Most Valuable Player award this season, he has still been dominant this season. I look for him to go over his points total in this one as he looks to help the Philadelphia 76ers get a victory over the Toronto Raptors in game one of this first round series. In fact I look for Embiid to go all out in this entire series as he tries to get revenge for the 2019 playoffs.

My second pick for this game is for James Harden to also go over his total points in this one. Since Harden came to Philadelphia he has been putting up some spectacular numbers. No matter how you feel about him and methods to draw fouls and get to the line, you have to respect Harden’s ability to score the basketball and I think that is what will be on display in this one. I could easily see him putting up 30 plus points as he tries to get the 76ers a series opening victory over the Toronto Raptors.

Denver Nuggets @ Golden State Warriors – 8:30pm ET

My first pick for this game is for the reigning and defending Most Valuable Player award winner Nikola Jokic. He is also likely closing in on his second straight Most Valuable Player award as well which will make him the second straight player to win back to back awards alongside Giannis. I look for Jokic to put up a great performance in this one as I have him putting up a double-double in this one against the Golden State Warriors. Denver is a serious NBA Championship contender as long as Jokic can stay healthy.

My second pick for this game is for the greatest three point shooter in the history of the National Basketball Association. I think Steph Curry will do his thing coming off of a long rest due to injury as he tries to get Golden State a game one victory at home. The Warriors are a dynasty and they will be looking to add another ring to the collection this season and that all starts with Curry playing well and remaining healthy throughout the playoffs. In my opinion this is going to be the best series of the first round and it will likely go the full seven games.
