Atlanta Hawks @ Miami Heat – 7:30pm ET
My first pick for this game is for the Atlanta Hawks superstar point guard and franchise cornerstone, Trae Young. Surprisingly Young was shut down in game one as he was held to only eight points. However, this is a guy who is known for huge playoff performances and I think he will bounce back just fine in this one. As I think it will be impossible for the Miami Heat to hold him to under ten points once again. That is why I am taking Trae Young to go over his total points in this one as he tries to get the Atlanta Hawks back to even at 1-1 before heading home.

My second pick for this game is for a Miami Heat victory over the Atlanta Hawks in game two of this first round series. As I think the Heat are just too tough of a team to beat right now, especially on their own home floor. While I expect Trae Young to put up some numbers I think it won’t be enough to prevent Miami from heading to Atlanta with a 2-0 lead. I think the Heat are the top favorites in the Eastern Conference at the moment despite a rocky end to the year.

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Memphis Grizzlies – 8:30pm ET
My first pick for this game is the Memphis Grizzlies superstar point guard and franchise cornerstone Ja Morant. He put on a show in game one but it wasn’t enough to overcome a tough and motivated Minnesota Timberwolves team. However I expect another big game from the “point god” in this one as he looks to get his Memphis Grizzlies team back on track. Morant is the best young player in the National Basketball Association and is a future Most Valuable Player award winner.

My second pick for this game is for a Memphis Grizzlies victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in game two. While Minnesota rode the momentum of an emotional play-in game win in game one, they won’t be able to catch the Grizzlies twice. As Memphis is just too good of a team this season even when Ja Morant isn’t in the lineup. With him on the floor they are at another level all together and I think that shows in this one as the Grizzlies will look to even the series before heading to Minnesota.

New Orleans Pelicans @ Phoenix Suns – 10pm ET
My first pick for this game is for the Phoenix Suns point guard and future National Basketball Association Hall Of Famer, Chris Paul. The former Wake Forest star put up a performance reminiscent of his younger days in game one as he scored 30 plus points. If there’s one thing that you know Chris Paul is focused on these playoffs it’s getting his team and himself that long-awaited NBA championship that he has deserved for years now. That is why I am expecting him to put up another big performance in this game.

My second pick for this game is for a Phoenix Suns victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. The Suns are clearly the better team in this series and arguably the best team in the National Basketball Association as well. After the first weekend of NBA playoff games it seems as if we are on a collision course between them and Golden State for the Western Conference Finals. Truthfully I look for the Suns to win this game and sweep the series in four games in a week’s time.
